General Information

Metal Pricing and Grading

For mixed metals or grades, we will pay you based on

the lowest quality metal plus sorting cost.

You will always do much better if you sort your own metal.

********************************

Metal must be in lengths less than 4 feet for these prices.

Tolerance for other material is zero if grade says no xxxx.

We will take longer lengths but will pay less for them.

We can sort and process copper pipe up to about 1 inch diameter.

We charge $0.25 per pound for this service.

If you don’t have time to sort it yourself,

 this is your best option.

Due to the difficulty in sorting and processing wire,

unsorted wire will pay significantly less than sorted wire.

We can sort your wire, but charge $0.45 per pound for this service.

PRICES:

My prices are usually very close to the average prices you will find at scrap yards. I will be higher than some and lower than others. I am usually not more than $0.10 below the higher prices out there. If you find my prices much lower, the price you see may be old or the prices may have moved a lot that day and I am not yet aware. While it is not typical, prices can change up or down as much as $0.50 over the course of a day. I will be happy to verify current price. If you get a yard price quote that is significantly higher than everyone else’s be suspicious.  If you have a large volume (1000 lbs or more) I can pay you a better price. I would usually have to check to get the most recent price for this.

PAYMENT:

I pay you typically by check.

If you wish to be paid in cash that is fine but you will need to sign a receipt and must be an existing customer. Please let me know beforehand if you wish to be paid cash, and roughly how much material you have. I pay you when we have finished weighing your metal. You do not have to wait for payment.

WEIGHT:

I weigh your metals at your site. I have a digital scale and it can weigh items up to 400 pounds.

You are welcome to test my scale, and I encourage you to watch when I weigh your metals.

I pay for actual weight. I do not deduct weight for anything except the weight of the container your metal is in.

Nantucket Customers:

Appointment required well in advance

A small per pound freight charge will be deducted from listed Copper/Brass prices to cover Ferry charges and extra travel time.  Light or bulky items will be assessed a higher per pound deduction.

If you have any questions regarding pricing or grading

 please give us a call.
